Advisor Ganai meets Union Tourism Minister | KNO

Jammu, February 12 (KNO) : Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, who holds the charge of Tourism Department, called on Union Tourism Minister, K. J Alphons here on Tuesday. Advisor Ganai briefed him about the activities of the Tourism Department and steps required to be taken for promotion of Tourism in the state. The Advisor briefed him about strategies being followed by the State Government for promotion of tourism in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh regions of the state, which has huge potential. The Advisor requested the Minister to give adequate prominence to Jammu and Kashmir State in the promotion and effort of the Ministry to attract International Tourists and in particular from South East Asian Countries from where Tourist arrivals were increasing even in off season (winters). The Advisor also highlighted the need for promoting pilgrim Tourism in Jammu-Katra circuit and requested for sanctioning of projects already submitted in this regard to the Ministry under PMDP. The Union Minister assured the Advisor of full support of the Ministry for promotion of Tourism in the State and building of Tourism infrastructure. The Minister assured to promote Jammu and Kashmir in the Ministry’s promotion programme through electronic and social media.(KNO)
